How do I invest using my IRA?

We do accept IRA investments for amounts over $2,000. To invest, you’ll need an IRA investment account. If you don’t already have one, StartEngine now offers IRA accounts, making it easy to set up and invest directly through our platform. Our team can guide you through the account setup process to ensure everything goes smoothly.

For other IRA Providers, here’s how you can use your existing IRA to invest with us:

  1. Contact Your IRA Custodian / Set Up a Self-Directed IRA (if needed)
Not all IRA providers allow investments in private offerings. It’s essential to confirm with your provider if they can accommodate such investments. Providers like Equity Trust Company and AltoIRA are examples of custodians we have worked with that typically allow investments in private equity and other alternatives.

  2. Create a StartEngine Investment Account for your IRA
If you don't already have an Investment Account for your IRA, create a StartEngine Investment Account and be sure to select "IRA" as the account type.

  3. Complete the Investment Process on the StartEngine Platform
Follow the instructions provided by your IRA custodian to complete the investment. This may include signing documents and confirming the investment amount. When checking out for your investment, select "wire" as the payment type. Your custodian will handle the transfer of funds to StartEngine on your behalf.

  4. Direct Your Investment
Once your IRA is ready, instruct your custodian to invest in the offering on StartEngine. This typically involves completing some paperwork and providing investment details on your IRA’s portal or via email.

Please note that the process varies depending on the IRA provider. If documents need to be generated, reach out to our support team for assistance, and they will help facilitate the investment with your IRA provider as needed.
