How do I post "Updates" to my community?
Updates are a key part of communicating with your investors — think of them as your own newsletter to your StartEngine investors and followers. Every update you post also emails everyone who has invested in your campaign or followed it, including anyone who started but hasn't finished an investment. That last group is especially important to reach, since they're closest to becoming investors.
We suggest posting at least 2–3 times per week. Posting around milestones helps show progress:
Launch announcement
Campaign progress milestones (25%, 50%, 75%, 100% funded, etc.)
Duration milestones (one-week mark, one-month mark, etc.)
A closing note and thank you as the campaign nears its end
What should I talk about in my updates?
Companies often hold back because they think they have nothing noteworthy to say — not true. Updates aren't only about milestones; they keep investors informed and engaged in the venture they've joined. Product updates, team member spotlights, quarterly revenue updates, and news features are all great topics — your community wants to know what's going on. For example, a news feature builds excitement, a team update creates a sense of closeness, and new product developments show tangible progress.
Pro tips for creating a good update
Always include a clear call to action. Think about what you want each post to accomplish and make it easy for the reader to act, including links where helpful — for example, “share this with your network” or “read our latest product update.” Make sure every update has a clear next step.
Encourage people to share your campaign page. It can help to give investors ready-made language to share with their own networks — your success is their success.
Make them personal. Many investors join because they're excited about your mission. Let your own passion come through to get others excited too.
Respond to comments promptly. Investors will ask questions, and answering quickly shows you're engaged. See How do I respond to investor comments on my campaign page?
