What is an Investment Account (and why do I need one)?

Your Investment Account is what will allow you to hold funds and trade on StartEngine Marketplace. We require all domestic individuals, companies, and trusts to open an Investment Account (which is part of, but separate from, your StartEngine Account) in order to have the ability to hold funds and trade. All funds in your Investment Account will be held by StartEngine Primary LLC; however, any securities purchased are not held by StartEngine Primary LLC but are held in the record holder's name.

All offerings require investors to open an Investment Account at checkout if they do not already have one. Once the Investment Account is opened and approved, no further action is required and you will not need to fund the account.

If you opened this account through an investment in a company, but the account has not been approved you will see the status "Needs investment account" on your dashboard.
